CEO Charleston Organization
For CEOs
Vistage  ·  Charleston, SC

When you're the one everyone reports to,
there's no one left to think out loud with.

The problem

It's tough out there.

So the truth gets rounded off — and you're making the biggest calls of your career on rounded numbers.

The 7 biggest mistakes CEOs can make Vistage's list, after 65 years of watching it happen
01Accepting the status quo
02Never stepping away from the business
03Relying solely on their own perspective
04Letting ego get in the way
05Making erratic decisions
06Not finding a good guide
07Focusing on their own growth, not their team's
What we're building

A peer-to-peer advisory group for Charleston chief executives — built on high acumen, real care, and a bias for action.

Acumen
Operators who have run something, carried the risk, and can take apart a problem that isn't theirs. Sharp enough that you'd hire any of them.
Care
People who are invested in how you're doing, not just how the company is doing. The two stopped being separate a long time ago.
Action
Nobody leaves with a list of things to consider. You leave with a decision, and the room asks about it next month.
Inside the room

What members say.

Vistage members on what changed once they had a board of peers.

How it works
12 peer problem solving meetings
Once a month you put a real decision on the table and the room takes it apart. No performance, no politics, no one with a stake in your answer.
12 private coaching sessions
One-to-one with your Chair every month, on the things you can't take to your team, your board, or the dinner table.
Expert speakers and events
Practitioners who've done the work, brought in for the problems the group is actually facing — plus regional CEO events and workshops.
A global network, on call
24/7 access to a worldwide community of business leaders and trusted advisors when a question won't wait for the next meeting.

What we agree to

The room only works if the right people are in it.

We bring our best to each other.
We are a group of problem solvers.
We act on our decisions and commit.
We lead with humility.
We care about each other personally and professionally.
We use our position to elevate everyone.
Your Chair
Scott Engler

Scott Engler

Vistage Chair, Charleston · Founder & CEO, Sync Executive Partners

Scott spent his career advising the people who sit in your chair. At CEB and Gartner he led mid-market advisory practices, working with thousands of executives on the problems that don't have clean answers — talent, capital, succession, and the gap between the leader a company has and the one its next stage needs. He hosted Gartner's The Talent Angle podcast for six years.

Today he runs Sync Executive Partners, advising private-equity-backed companies on value creation. He chairs this group in Charleston because the work he cares most about happens in a room where CEOs stop performing and start telling the truth.
